Another missed blog

Once again I have been a bit slow on the uptake, amplified by being a bit slow in posting, but here is another blog worth watching:

A new[ish] blog by the prolific Paul Reed. Covering a wide range of military history topics I can see this taking up a fair bit of my reading time

Must pay more attention.

Remembrance in the 21st century

As the 90th anniversary of the armstice approaches it it interesting to see the increasingly mutli-media approach to remembrance.

The National Archives, home to countless files and documents, seems to be embracing new[ish] media with a series of podcasts starting with the story of John Mills a Quartermaster.

The BBC building on its People's War project have their remembrance site linked into religon, aimed at schools it is still an interesting, and hopefully developing, site.

They're all at it!

Anyone can have a military history blog. That's evident from this site, but a new addition has come to my attention. Peter Hart's new website includes a blog and information on his books, tours and talks, so a welcome addition to the blogosphere.

CWGC shoots, they score!

I've mentioned before the link between sports, remembrance and the First World War. The CWGC has launched a new mini site, "Glorydays"

Firstly, this is just a fun site but it is also educating by stealth. In my case perhaps a bit too stealthy as I didn't get full marks on the test. Maybe this approach is more appropriate for the "playstation" generation than the poetry of Owen et al.

And then there wasn't training

Its interesting to contrast the mountain of pamphlets and eventual training mindset of the British Army in the First War with that of the second.

Mike Ingram's interesting blog, is looking at and not finding much on training, admittedly for other theatres. It's also good to see another Birmingham uni student with sufficent time to spare for other projects! My time is mostly taken up with trying to raise my English to a level that won't cause John Bourne to explode.
